Message from The Principal – Weekly Update – Saturday October 8, 2022
October, like September, is going to be a busy month for everyone at St. Mary School.
Thank you Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Macek for helping to coach the Cross Country Team who finished the season this past Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Peace Park.
Students in grades seven and eight attended the Diocesan Mass for the Consecration of Catholic Schools to Our Lady of Good Hope at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Madison, WI on Friday, October 7, 2022. It was a moving experience for all involved. May the love of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, keep us connected with the help of our Mother Mary now and forever. Thank you Mr. Anderson, Religion Teacher and Mr. Di iorio parent chaperone for assisting with this event.
The annual World’s Finest Chocolate Sale was another big success with a sellout of our complete inventory. This year’s top seller was Mason Jacque (1440 bars), followed by Caleb Garcznski with (840 bars) and in third place, William Brockman with 720 bars. We will have our Prize Day assembly on Monday, October 10, 2022, at 2 p.m. in the gym. Thanks to all who participated in this annual fundraiser and a special appreciation to our school secretary, Mrs. Nemeth for leading this effort.
Next week is National Fire Prevention Week that will include trips to the Fire Station, a school wide fire drill conducted by the Janesville Fire Department as well as annual fire truck visit to the school. This is always a fun event for our earliest learners!
Our first Scoopie Night is Wednesday, October 12, 2022, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Please put this on your calendar and come out to the Milton Ave Culvers for dinner.
On Friday, October 14, 2022, we will be walking to JPAC for a 9:00 a.m. presentation of Snow White—see the permission slip that went home this past Friday or additional details. As always the case, members of the cast are from St. Mary School. DON’T FORGET to return the permission slips on Monday, October 10, 2022.
The next family Mass is this coming Sunday, October 16, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. followed by the 41st Annual Steeple Chase starting at noon at RIVERSIDE PARK. There is lots of new energy and excitement around this event under the leadership of Ben Ryan.
By tradition, the Catholic Church dedicates each month of the year to certain devotions. The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary, one of the best known of all Catholic devotions. October includes the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (October 7). Please take time this month to pray the rosary with your family as we will be doing in school.
God Bless—Dr. E
